Matthias Altendorf will assume office on 1 June 2026 as Non‑Executive Director of Lloyd’s Register Group Limited, Trustee of Lloyd’s Register Foundation, and Chair‑Designate of both organisations. He currently serves as President of the Supervisory Board of Coltene AG.
From 2024 to April 2026, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Endress+Hauser AG, following a decade as Chief Executive Officer (2014–2023). His nearly 40‑year career with Endress+Hauser began in 1986 as an apprentice and evolved through senior leadership roles in sales, marketing, and research & development. He studied physics and completed executive programs at LBS, IMD, Stanford, and MIT.
Matthias serves on the Supervisory Boards of Ameropa AG and Kistler AG and has contributed to committees of the German business associations ZVEI and WVIB. He is the founder of Bionic Leadership, an approach that strengthens organisations by combining principles from nature, technology, and modern management research to enhance clarity, resilience, and long‑term decision quality. He is a recognised practitioner in corporate governance, regularly lecturing at the MIT Sloan School of Management and at IMD Lausanne.
He completed the Certified International Directors Programs at Harvard Business School and INSEAD, strengthening his international governance credentials.
